About Me

Hi there! Thanks for checking out my little site and I hope it helps your task of parenting your new pup a little easier! 

My name is Avid and I've been told many times in my life that its a pretty...unique name to say the least (laugh). I live in the all-year-Summer island state of Singapore with my wife and 2 kids (age 13 and 4 as of writing). I'm a movie (horror genre bias) cum video game buff and a HUGE lover of animals big, small, extinct or otherwise.

Why I build this website

I had multiple dogs throughout my life and my last dog was a rescued mongrel named Rikku who stayed with us for almost 10 years. She is one of the main reason that propels me into building this website where my aim is to help new puppy parents everywhere with my personal experiences supplement with extensive research.

Many dogs are abandoned due to impulse adoptions/buying. Many owners leave their dogs behind once they are deem no longer 'small and cute'. Yet even more bubbling new owners have unrealistic expectations which lead to inadequate training and conditioning early on in puppies life that is so crucial to their success in growing up and blending well in a human society which could lead to all sorts of problems later on.  The amount of attention, money and effort needed for man-dog relationships to work is often underestimated yet remain as the root causes of dog abandonments.

The good news is, many if not most of these issues can be fixed or avoided altogether with a little know-how and that's where this website and my motivation comes in! Ultimately, the goal of this website is to eliminate dog abandonments through actionable and accurate puppy care advices.  

That said, this website is a work in progress and will likely be for many years to come as I continue to research, update and create new content. Now, English is not my first language and I'm a little slow when it comes to writing (ok, I admit I'm just slow) but I'm improving slowly but surely.

How I build this website

Once I decided to build a website way back in 2010, my research begin. 

Building a website wasn't easy at first. There are so much information and often too much fluff and misinformation within these resources that it is paralyzing. It is one of those situation where it seems that the more you know, the more you realize that there are even more you NEED to learn. Couple with the fact that I'm by no means a tech savvy guy (even to this day) it is safe to say I often felt overwhelmed.

Then I stumbled upon Solo Build It! (SBI!) and never look back since. SBI! isn't free compared to other alternatives out there. But the thing I like most about SBI! is the complete package it brings. It is essentially 'Build a website for Dummies' instructional e-book, an online business platform and a reliable web-hosting service all roll into one! 

It takes away the guesswork of how to go about researching good keywords, getting my on-page criteria Google friendly, submitting  pages to all the main search engines automatically without violating search engine rules and so much more. This free up all the technical heavy-lifting happening behind the scene required to build a successful website and allows me to focus on what matters. Creating content.
